Targeted Expansion Board

The Khadas M2X WWAN Extension Board adds cellular connectivity to VIM4, VIM3, VIM3L and Edge-V single-board computers. It provides an M.2 B-key slot for a 4G LTE or 5G NR module and a nano-SIM card slot. An 18-pin GPIO header remains accessible for additional peripherals. A 4G/5G active LED indicates link status.

Makers Needing Cellular Without Storage

Developers who need mobile broadband on supported Khadas boards will use this extension. Builders who also require an M.2 SSD cannot use this board because the single PCIe lane is reserved for the WWAN module. Projects that do not target VIM4, VIM3, VIM3L or Edge-V platforms are not compatible.

Single PCIe Lane For WWAN Only

The board exposes one PCIe interface through its M.2 B-key connector, dedicated to a 4G or 5G module. No second PCIe lane exists for solid-state storage, so SSD expansion is not possible. The 81.6 x 56.0 x 5.5 mm dimensions match the VIM form factor. Four M2 screws and two standoffs are included for mounting.

The box contains the M2X WWAN Extension Board, four M2 screws and two M2 standoffs; a 4G/5G LTE module and nano-SIM card are not included and must be purchased separately.

Which Khadas boards are compatible with this extension board?

It is compatible with VIM4, VIM3, VIM3L and Edge-V single-board computers; note that VIM3 and VIM3L do not support 5G modules on Android due to their lower Android version.
