The Lenovo ThinkPad T14 Gen 1 is a 14-inch ultrabook built around a 10th Gen Intel Core i7-10510U quad-core processor with a 4.40 GHz turbo frequency. It ships with 16 GB of DDR4 2666 memory configured as 8 GB onboard plus an 8 GB module, and a 512 GB M.2 2242 SSD. The 1920 x 1080 IPS panel uses in-plane switching technology and does not support touch input. Windows 11 Pro comes pre-installed.

Memory and storage upgrade constraints

The single SO-DIMM slot is already occupied, so adding memory requires replacing the existing module rather than adding a second one. The M.2 2242 form factor limits SSD choices to shorter drives, and only one drive bay is provided. Thunderbolt 3 and USB-C 3.2 Gen 1 ports handle external peripherals, while the onboard Intel UHD Graphics uses shared system memory for video tasks.

Sustained workload thermal behaviour

Under continuous load the quad-core U-series processor will hit its thermal limits and reduce clock speeds from the 4.40 GHz turbo toward the 1.8 GHz base. The integrated Intel UHD Graphics shares the same thermal envelope, so combined CPU and GPU work accelerates throttling. Fan noise increases as the cooling system tries to dissipate heat from the compact chassis during extended compile, render or video-encoding sessions.
