Slim 12.7 mm DVD burner

The Lite-On DS-8ABSH-01 is a new slim DVD burner designed for laptops or compact desktops with a 12.7 mm drive bay. It connects via a SATA interface and uses a slot-load mechanism. Supported operating systems include Windows 8, 7, XP, Linux and Mac OS.

8X DVD write speeds with dual-layer support

The drive writes DVD+R and DVD-R at 8X and DVD+RW at 8X. DVD-RW writes at 6X. Dual-layer DVD+R DL and DVD-R DL are supported at 6X. DVD-RAM writes at 5X. CD-R and CD-RW both reach 24X. Read speeds are 8X for DVD-ROM and 24X for CD-ROM. Access times are 150 ms for DVD and 130 ms for CD.

Fits slim SATA bays and frees external ports

The 12.7 mm form factor fits standard slim internal bays without an external enclosure. A SATA data and power connection is required inside the chassis. The slot-load design eliminates a protruding tray. Internal mounting keeps USB ports free for other peripherals.
