Isolated TTL to RS485 Converter

This development board converts TTL signals into differential RS485 signals with galvanic isolation. It supports half-duplex communication and works with 3.3V to 5V logic levels. Onboard unibody power and digital isolation remove the need for a separate isolated supply. The module suits makers building noise-immune industrial or remote sensor links.

Upgrade from bare transceiver modules

The board adds integrated TVS suppression, a self-recovery fuse and protection diodes that discrete chips lack. Isolation and surge protection become worthwhile when cable runs exceed a few metres or when lightning and electrostatic discharge are a risk. The solder-selectable 120R termination resistor simplifies bus-end installation without extra parts.

Sustained industrial operation

Continuous half-duplex traffic over distances up to 1.2Km remains stable thanks to isolated power delivery and digital isolation that rejects common-mode noise.
