The MSI MPG Z790 EDGE WIFI uses the LGA 1700 socket and Intel Z790 chipset to support Core 12th, 13th and 14th Gen processors plus Pentium Gold and Celeron CPUs. Dual-channel DDR5 scales from JEDEC 4800 up to 7200 OC with a 256GB maximum. ATX layout provides three PCIe slots and seven SATA ports for storage expansion.

Build quality and daily connectivity

Reinforced PCIe slots and extended heatsinks protect the primary x16 Gen 5.0 lane and the chipset-driven x4 Gen 4.0 and x1 Gen 3.0 slots. Rear I/O supplies four USB 5Gbps Type A, four USB 10Gbps Type A, one USB 10Gbps Type C and one USB 20Gbps Type C. Front-panel headers add two USB 5Gbps Type A, one USB 10Gbps Type C and four USB 2.0 ports. Realtek ALC4080 delivers 7.1-channel audio at 32-bit 384 kHz. Intel 2.5Gbps LAN handles wired networking.
