Installing in the Thinkmate server

Installation follows the server manual and takes only minutes. The registered design and ECC function require a motherboard that supports registered DDR5 ECC RDIMMs; a standard desktop board will not accept these modules. No heat spreaders are fitted, so airflow in the chassis must be adequate.

DDR5 4800 registered ECC limits

The DDR5 4800 standard caps the data rate at 4800 MT/s with CL40 timing at 1.1V. Registered ECC operation adds a clock cycle of buffering, which slightly increases latency compared with unbuffered memory. Capacity per slot is limited by the 1Rx8 organisation of these modules.
