Server-grade DDR3L ECC kit

This OWC kit supplies 16 GB of DDR3L 1600 registered ECC memory in two 8 GB modules. It is built for HP ProLiant Gen8 servers and workstations that require 1.35 V registered DIMMs. The modules carry CL11 latency and a 1Rx4 organisation. They are not compatible with standard desktop platforms.

Straightforward DIMM installation

Installation follows the usual server DIMM procedure: power down, open the chassis, align the 240-pin key and press until the latches lock. No heat spreaders are fitted, so clearance is minimal. The registered design means these modules cannot be mixed with unbuffered memory; doing so will prevent the system from posting.

16 GB for legacy ProLiant Gen8

The kit brings two slots to 16 GB total, suitable for light virtualisation, file serving or NAS workloads on the listed Gen8 models. Capacity stops at 16 GB; larger memory footprints will require higher-density modules or additional slots. Registered ECC operation protects data integrity within this limit.
