Fully rugged convertible laptop

The Panasonic Toughbook CF-19 is a fully rugged 10.1-inch convertible that switches between notebook and tablet modes with a swivelling touchscreen. It runs Windows 10 Pro on a 2.70GHz Intel Core i5 single-core processor supported by 8GB of DDR3 800 memory in a 4GB x 2 configuration. The magnesium alloy chassis meets MIL-STD-810G, MIL-STD-461F and IP65 certifications for drop, shock, vibration and ingress protection. A digitiser pen and power adapter are included.

Sustained load behaviour

Under continuous use the single-core processor delivers a fixed 2.70GHz clock without turbo headroom, so multi-threaded workloads queue on the single execution thread. The 500GB hard drive provides sustained sequential throughput limited by mechanical latency rather than flash speeds. DDR3 800 memory bandwidth caps data feed to the core during prolonged compute tasks. The sunlight-viewable LED panel maintains up to 6000 nit brightness without thermal throttling the display subsystem.

Interface practical limits

The 1024 x 768 XGA resolution limits on-screen workspace to a 4:3 aspect ratio, constraining modern application layouts. WLAN 802.11a/b/g/n tops out at legacy throughput well below contemporary Wi-Fi standards. Wired LAN is restricted to 10/100/1000Mbps Gigabit Ethernet. Verizon 4G LTE mobile broadband and integrated GPS receiver provide field connectivity but depend on carrier coverage and satellite visibility. No solid-state storage option is present.
