This RIITOP controller adds six 6 Gbps SATA III ports through a single PCI Express x4 slot using the ASMedia ASM1166 chipset. It is designed for builders who need to connect multiple hard drives or SSDs to a desktop, workstation or NAS platform. The card fits x4, x8 or x16 slots and operates with native AHCI support across Windows, Linux and macOS without extra drivers.

Suits storage expansion without hardware RAID

The board provides six AHCI ports and supports port-multiplier command-based switching, making it a good match for JBOD arrays, software RAID setups or simple drive multiplication. It cannot perform hardware RAID on its own; systems that need RAID must rely on the motherboard firmware or host-based software.
