Drive Bay Conversion

This mounting kit converts a single 3.5 inch SATA drive bay so it can accept any 2.5 inch SATA hard drive or SSD. It is aimed at desktop builders and Mac Pro tower owners who want to install smaller drives without replacing their chassis. The open aluminium frame preserves airflow around the drive for proper cooling.

Build Integration

The bracket uses industry-standard screw locations so it fits directly into existing 3.5 inch bays and backplane trays such as those in silver Mac Pro towers. No extra adapters or cables are required beyond the standard SATA data and power connections already present in the system. It frees up the larger bay for higher-density storage.

Capacity Headroom

The converter is fully compatible with SATA 3.0 Revision at 6Gb/s and remains backward compatible with SATA 2.0 and 1.0 Revision drives. It handles any 2.5 inch SATA drive regardless of capacity, but it cannot accommodate 3.5 inch drives or non-SATA interfaces.
