Sustained write behaviour with nCache 4.0

Western Digital's nCache 4.0 technology uses a portion of the TLC array as a high-speed buffer to absorb incoming write bursts. During long transfers the drive maintains performance by folding data from the buffer into the main TLC area without a sharp drop in throughput. The 600TB TBW rating reflects the total data that can be written over the drive's lifetime.

Low power draw and thermal limits

Active power consumption is rated at 65mW while idle sleep power drops to 3.3mW, helping extend battery life in laptops. The controller operates within a 0°C to 85°C range without active cooling. No fan or heatsink is required for typical desktop or notebook installations.
