This SK hynix module provides 64GB of DDR4-2666 memory with ECC and load-reduced buffering. It uses a 288-pin form factor and operates at 1.20V with CL19 latency. The 4Rx4 organisation allows more installed DIMMs per channel than standard registered modules. It is built for virtualization, HPC and in-memory database workloads.

Upgrades from standard RDIMMs

Standard registered DIMMs hit channel ranking limits that restrict total capacity. This load-reduced design removes that bottleneck so servers can reach higher densities up to 128GB per module. The jump is worth it when your platform supports LRDIMMs and you need maximum memory bandwidth for demanding applications. It cannot be mixed with unbuffered ECC UDIMMs in the same system.

Installation requires LRDIMM support

The module installs in a standard 288-pin DDR4 slot but the motherboard and BIOS must explicitly support load-reduced DIMMs. Mixing LRDIMMs with registered or unbuffered ECC modules will prevent boot. No heat spreader is fitted so airflow across the PCB is required. Verify your server’s qualified vendor list before purchase.
