Capacity and headroom

Native capacity is 100 GB and compressed capacity reaches 260 GB, assuming a typical 2.6:1 compression ratio. The cartridge holds 256 on-tape partitions managed by the Memory-In-Cassette chip, so the drive can locate data sets without scanning the full length. Performance drops when data is incompressible or when the drive cannot sustain streaming write speeds.

AIT3 interface limits

The cartridge works with Sony AIT drives such as the E1040, E260, E390, I1040, I390 and SDX-700 models, and with libraries including the Lib-162 and Lib-81. It is not suited for environments that require capacities beyond 260 GB compressed or that use non-AIT3 tape formats.
