The Supermicro MBD-X12SPA-TF-O is an extended ATX server motherboard built around the Intel C621A chipset and LGA 4189 socket. It targets system integrators and data-centre operators deploying 3rd Gen Intel Xeon Scalable or Xeon W-3300 processors with TDPs up to 270 W. The platform delivers sixteen DDR4 slots and four full-length PCI Express 4.0 x16 expansion slots in a single-socket layout.
Sixteen DDR4 slots supporting 4 TB capacity
Memory scale is the decisive specification: sixteen 288-pin slots accept DDR4-3200 ECC RDIMM or LRDIMM modules up to a combined 4 TB. The board also supports Intel Optane persistent memory at the same speed and capacity limit. Builders needing more than 4 TB of system memory or a different memory generation must choose another platform.
IPMI LAN plus dual 10 GbE and 1 GbE ports
Rear I/O includes a dedicated IPMI RJ45 port driven by a Realtek RTL8211F PHY, one 10GBase-T port from the Marvell AQC113 controller, and one gigabit port from the Intel I210-AT controller. Aspeed AST2500 graphics provide basic video output. Storage connectivity comprises eight SATA 6 Gb/s ports with RAID 0, 1, 5, 10 and four M.2 slots (PCIe 4.0 x4, M-key, 2260/2280/22110) that also support RAID when a VROC key is installed.
