The Syba SY-ENC50119 connects up to eight SATA hard drives or SSDs through a single USB 3.0 port. Each bay accepts 2.5 inch or 3.5 inch drives up to 18TB capacity. Independent power switches let you spin down unused drives. The steel chassis and temperature-controlled fan dissipate heat across all bays.

Drives slide into the supplied trays without screws, though 32 mounting screws and a screwdriver are included for securing 2.5 inch units. No RAID or NAS functions are supported, so each drive appears separately to the operating system. The single USB 3.0 link limits combined throughput to 5 Gbps regardless of how many drives are active.

USB 3.0 and SATA I/II/III set the practical speed

The enclosure bridges SATA I, II and III drives to a USB 3.0 host with UASP support, but the 5 Gbps USB connection remains the bottleneck for large transfers.
