Six-bay NAS for multi-user workloads

The Synology DiskStation DS1621xs+ is a 6-bay desktop NAS built around an Intel Xeon D-1527 4-core processor running at 2.2 GHz with a 2.7 GHz turbo. It ships with 32 GB of DDR4 ECC SODIMM memory and twelve terabytes of raw capacity provided by six 2.5-inch SATA SSDs. The unit runs Synology DSM and targets small to medium businesses needing iSCSI targets, file storage, email servers, domain controllers, VM and container storage, or a network video recorder for surveillance.

Single power supply with 10GbE and link aggregation

The chassis uses a single power supply and provides two 1 GbE RJ-45 ports plus one 10 GbE RJ-45 port with link aggregation and failover support. Three USB 3.2 ports and two eSATA ports handle external expansion. The Btrfs file system enables advanced LUN iSCSI service. No fan diameter, noise rating or power-draw figure is supplied in the data.

Drives and memory require installation

The six SATA SSDs and the memory modules are included separately in a sealed box and must be installed before use. DSM bundles storage management, file syncing, surveillance and backup software for immediate configuration. The platform also includes a 1 TB M.2 NVMe SSD for caching. Buyers who want drives pre-installed or a redundant power supply will need a different solution.
