The Synology DS925+ is a diskless four-bay desktop NAS designed for users who want a personal cloud for file sharing, media streaming and backup. It ships with 4 GB of DDR4 ECC SODIMM memory installed and two SODIMM slots that support expansion up to 32 GB.

Tool-less drive trays and dual 2.5GbE ports

Drive installation uses tool-less trays that slide into the four SATA bays, so adding or replacing disks requires no screws. Two built-in 2.5GbE RJ-45 ports provide link aggregation for failover or load balancing, but the unit has no 10GbE or SFP+ connectivity for faster uplinks.

SATA interface limits sequential throughput

The four SATA bays deliver up to 522 MB/s sequential read and 565 MB/s sequential write, which is the practical ceiling of the SATA interface itself. Workloads that demand sustained throughput beyond those figures will be constrained by the drive interface rather than the network ports.
