The Synology RS1626xs+ is a 1U rackmount network-attached storage server built around an Intel Xeon D-1726 processor with 16GB DDR4 ECC memory. It ships fully assembled with four 12TB enterprise drives providing 48TB raw capacity plus two 1.6TB NVMe cache modules. The platform targets businesses running virtualization, file collaboration, backup and surveillance workloads that require high throughput and data integrity in a compact form factor.

Dual 10GbE RJ-45 and Single Management Port

Network connectivity is limited to two 10GbE RJ-45 LAN ports and one dedicated out-of-band management port, so environments without 10GbE switching will not benefit from the full bandwidth potential. The PCIe Gen4 x8 slot allows one additional network or HBA card, but only a single expansion device can be installed. Maximum drive count reaches 16 bays only when a compatible Synology expansion unit is purchased separately.

Pre-Populated Drives and Cache Reduce Setup Time

The unit arrives with drives and cache SSDs already installed and tested, so initial deployment consists of rack mounting, cabling power and network links, then running the web-based DSM setup wizard. Installers must verify that the 100-240 VAC supply matches local mains and that ambient temperature stays within 5°C to 35°C. The single PCIe slot and fixed four-bay chassis limit future internal upgrades to memory and one add-in card only.
