The Synology RS3626xs is a 2U rackmount network-attached storage system built around a 6-core Intel Xeon D-1726 processor. It ships with 8 GB of DDR4 ECC memory, expandable to 48 GB, and includes twelve 20 TB Synology Enterprise SATA drives pre-installed for 240 TB of raw capacity. Two 1.6 TB Synology Enterprise cache modules provide 3.2 TB of read-write acceleration. Dual redundant power supplies help maintain uptime during a single supply failure.

Network limits of the integrated 10GbE interface

Two onboard 10GbE RJ-45 ports support Link Aggregation for higher throughput, load balancing and automatic failover. Sequential throughput reaches 6,300 MB/s read and 3,700 MB/s write under Synology test conditions. Two PCIe Gen 4 x8 slots allow future addition of compatible 25GbE, 10GbE or Fibre Channel adapters. Without extra cards the system remains limited to the two 10GbE links and the single out-of-band management port.

Capacity headroom with twelve drive bays

Twelve 3.5-inch bays hold the included 20 TB drives, delivering 240 TB before RAID overhead. The chassis also accepts 2.5-inch SATA SSDs for mixed deployments. Memory headroom extends from the factory 8 GB to a 48 GB ceiling for heavier virtualization or database workloads. Expansion beyond twelve internal bays requires external enclosures; the unit has no additional internal drive slots.
