The Velztorm Pilum is a pre-built gaming desktop built around an eight-core AMD Ryzen 7 3700X processor running at 3.6 GHz with a 4.4 GHz boost. It pairs 32 GB of DDR4 memory with a 1 TB PCIe NVMe SSD and a 3 TB 3.5-inch hard drive for mixed-speed storage. The graphics card is a GeForce GTX 1050 Ti with 4 GB of GDDR5 memory. A 750 W power supply and a 120 mm AIO liquid cooler support the components inside a black chassis. Windows 10 Pro is installed.

Upgrade path

This system replaces an older machine that relies on a mechanical drive for the operating system and has less than 16 GB of memory. The jump is worthwhile when the workload benefits from eight threads and fast NVMe boot times, such as multitasking while streaming or compiling code. Buyers who need more storage than 4 TB combined or who want a newer GPU architecture for modern titles at high settings should look elsewhere.

Interface limits

The GTX 1050 Ti connects through a single HDMI and one DisplayPort output, driving up to two displays at 1080p resolution. Wireless connectivity uses 802.11n Wi-Fi, which caps throughput well below modern 5 GHz or 6 GHz standards. The front panel provides one USB 3.1 Gen1 Type-C port, one USB 3.1 Gen1 Type-A port and five USB 3.0 Type-A ports alongside four USB 2.0 ports. No Bluetooth or optical drive is included.
