Desktop Wi-Fi Upgrade Adapter

This adapter lets you install an M.2 A+E or E-key Wi-Fi module into a desktop PCIe x1 slot. It converts the module's PCIe and USB signals to the slot and a motherboard USB header. The board includes a 12 cm bracket for standard case profiles and two 6 dBi RP-SMA antennas for 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz and 6 GHz bands. It is aimed at builders adding Wi-Fi 6 or Bluetooth 5.1 to a tower system.

Installation Notes

The card plugs into any PCIe x1, x4, x8 or x16 slot and the USB cable must reach an internal motherboard header for Bluetooth to function. No driver is needed for the adapter itself, but the Wi-Fi module will require its own driver in DOS, Windows, Linux or Mac OS. A common issue is forgetting the USB connection, which leaves Bluetooth inactive even though Wi-Fi works.

Compatibility Checklist

Verify your Wi-Fi module uses an A+E or E key and speaks PCIe protocol; CNVi, CNVi2, Mini PCIe and M.2 NVMe SSDs are not supported. Confirm the motherboard has a free PCIe slot and a spare internal USB header for the Bluetooth cable. Some M.2 modules do not work with AMD platforms, so check the module maker's compatibility list before ordering.
