Eight hot-plug 2.5-inch drive bays are populated with 300GB 15K SAS drives on a PERC H330 controller supporting RAID 0/1/5/10/50/60. A redundant 550W power supply and iDRAC8 remote management are included.

The jump makes sense when you need SAS throughput and hardware RAID in a single rack unit without moving to a dual-socket configuration. The H330 controller adds 12Gbps SAS connectivity and the six-core Xeon handles threaded workloads that dual-core or four-core predecessors could not. Build around two PCIe 3.0 slots and four 1GbE ports

The chassis provides two PCIe 3.0 expansion slots for additional networking or storage controllers. Four onboard 1GbE ports handle baseline connectivity while iDRAC8 gives out-of-band access.
