Four USB 3.0 ports on a PCIe x1 slot

The ESTONE PCIE24USBA adds four USB 3.0 ports to a desktop through a single PCI Express x1 lane. It uses a NEC chipset to deliver up to 5.0 Gbps total bandwidth for video, audio, photos or files. Each port supplies up to 2 A, giving 8 A combined for high-draw devices. The card fits x1, x4, x8 or x16 slots and does not need an external power cable.

Driver install on Windows 7 or older.

Windows 11, 10, 8.1 and 8 (32-bit and 64-bit) plus Windows Server 2012, 2012 R2, 2016 and 2019 recognise the card without extra steps. For Windows 7, Vista, XP and older releases the supplied mini-CD holds the RENESAS/VLI USB 3.0 driver that must be installed first. The product does not support Mac OS, Linux or GPU passthrough, so builders needing those platforms should look elsewhere.

Sustained transfers share 5.0 Gbps across all four

Under continuous load the 5.0 Gbps ceiling is divided between active ports, so simultaneous heavy copies will run slower than a single-stream burst. On-board circuit protectors and voltage-stabilising capacitors guard against drops during long sessions. The card draws all power from the slot, so the motherboard must supply enough current for the full 8 A rating.
