Buffalo Technology
Four-bay desktop NAS with 16 TB of pre-installed drives, a quad-core 2.04 GHz processor, 8 GB DDR4 memory, and a native 10GbE port
Included HDD Capacity 16TB (4 x 4TB)
Option Fully Populated
The Buffalo TeraStation 5420 delivers 16 terabytes of pre-configured storage across four drive bays. It ships with four 4TB NAS-grade hard drives already installed and RAID-ready for small-business file serving, backup targets or virtualization hosts.
Drives arrive tested and the array is pre-configured, so the unit can join the network without a manual build step. Snapshot technology adds near-instant recovery points, while AES-256 encryption and two-factor authentication harden data at rest and in transit.
A single 10GbE RJ-45 port handles high-throughput transfers when the switch and cabling support it, while two 1GbE ports provide fallback connectivity. Transfer rates will drop to the slowest link in the path, so environments without 10GbE infrastructure will not reach the top speed.

Other versions of this model
Same family, different memory, cooler or clock — compare before you commit.
The unit ships with four 4 TB NAS-grade SATA drives in a pre-configured RAID array; drive lifespan depends on workload, but the hardware supports hot-swap replacement without downtime.
The single 10 GbE port and two 1 GbE ports set the network throughput limit before the Annapurna Labs AL524 quad-core processor or 8 GB DDR4 memory become bottlenecks.
Rated power draw is 60 W from a 100-240 VAC supply; the desktop chassis uses internal fans to dissipate that heat under sustained operation.
