The Dell PowerEdge R730 is a 2U rackmount server system designed for organisations that need dense compute and storage in a standard cabinet. It ships with a single Intel Xeon E5-2650v3 ten-core processor running at 2.3GHz and 16GB of DDR4 memory. Dual 750W redundant power supplies keep the platform running through a supply failure.
The PERC H330 RAID controller manages up to eight 3.5-inch hot-plug SAS or SATA drives and supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 10, 50 and 60. Two 2TB 7.2K SAS drives are installed, leaving six bays free for expansion up to the controller’s 64TB maximum capacity.
The integrated iDRAC8 with Lifecycle Controller provides out-of-band monitoring and firmware updates without an operating system. Seven PCIe 3.0 slots plus a dedicated PERC slot allow additional networking or accelerator cards, while the four-port 1GbE daughter card handles baseline connectivity.

Other versions of this model
Same family, different memory, cooler or clock — compare before you commit.
The installed E5-2650v3 runs at 2.3 GHz with ten cores and twenty threads via Hyper-Threading, giving strong multi-thread throughput for virtualization or database workloads within the 2U chassis.
The Perc H330 supports 12 Gbps SAS, but the supplied 7.2K drives operate at 6 Gbps, so sustained throughput caps at the drive interface rather than the controller maximum.
The server measures 26.8 inches long and requires two 750 W redundant hot-swap supplies; sliding rails for a standard-depth rack are needed to support the 58 lb weight.
