Adds two USB 3.0 Type-A ports via a PCIe x1 slot using a NEC uPD720202 chipset with up to 5.0 Gbps transfer and Molex power
The EN-Labs PCIE22U3D adds two external USB 3.0 Type-A ports to a desktop through any PCIe x1, x4, x8 or x16 slot. It uses the NEC uPD720202 chipset and complies with the USB 3.0 SuperSpeed specification at 5.0 Gbps. The card is backward compatible with USB 2.0, 1.1 and 1.0 devices and supports hot-plug operation. A driver CD is included for Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8 and MAC 10.8 or above.
The controller draws power from the PCIe slot and includes a Molex 4-pin connector for supplemental power when attached devices demand more current. No active cooling is fitted, so the card runs silently in normal use. The full-profile bracket fits standard desktop cases without modification.
The bundled driver CD provides installation files for older Windows releases and MAC 10.8, extending compatibility beyond modern plug-and-play support. No additional software utilities or management tools are supplied with the card.

Insert the card into any PCIe x1, 4x, 8x or 16x slot on the motherboard, secure the full-profile bracket, then plug a Molex 4-pin LP4 connector from the power supply into the card's power socket; the step often missed is attaching that Molex lead, without it the two USB 3.0 ports may not deliver full 5 Gbps power.
No scheduled maintenance is required; keep the slot and USB Type-A ports dust-free, and if a port becomes loose or the driver CD is lost, download the latest xHCI 1.0 driver from the chipset maker instead of relying on the disc.
The PCI Express 2.0 x1 link caps aggregate bandwidth at 5 Gbps, so simultaneous full-speed transfers on both ports will share that single-lane ceiling before any thermal or controller limit is reached.
