The HP ProLiant DL160 Gen9 is a 1U rack server system designed for balanced compute density. It ships with dual Intel Xeon E5-2630v3 eight-core processors at 2.4GHz and 16GB of DDR4 memory. The chassis includes eight 2.5-inch drive bays populated with two 1TB 7.2K SATA drives managed by a B140i Software RAID controller supporting RAID 0, 1, 5. A 550W redundant hot-swap power supply is fitted. No operating system is included. The Matrox G200 GPU provides basic video output.
This server fits workloads that run on dual Xeon v3 processors with up to 16 DIMM slots for DDR4 ECC registered memory. It supports a maximum of 1TB total memory capacity using 4GB, 8GB, 16GB, 32GB or 64GB modules at speeds up to 2400MT/s depending on the processor. The B140i controller handles SATA drives only with RAID 0, 1, 5 levels. Buyers who need hardware RAID acceleration or support for SAS drives should look at other platforms. The 1U form factor limits expansion cards to low-profile options.
The installed B140i controller manages the two 1TB 6Gbps SATA drives and any additional SATA drives added to the eight SFF bays. It provides RAID 0, 1, 5 without a dedicated hardware RAID processor. Memory speed reaches 2400MT/s only with supported processors. The chassis accepts universal media bay or two extra SFF drives as optional configurations not included. Redundant hot-swap power supplies support continuous operation.
