HP
1U rack server with one Xeon E5-2623 v3 quad-core CPU, 8 GB DDR4 ECC memory, eight 2.5-inch SFF drive bays, B140i SATA RAID controller and redundant 550 W power supplies
The HP ProLiant DL160 Gen9 fits a single Intel Xeon E5-2623 v3 quad-core processor running at 3 GHz into a 1U chassis. Eight gigabytes of DDR4 ECC registered memory are installed across 16 DIMM slots. The B140i controller provides software RAID 0, 1 and 5 for SATA drives only. Eight 2.5-inch SFF bays accept SAS or SATA media, and a Matrox G200 chip supplies 16 MB video memory for basic console output.
A redundant hot-swap 550 W power supply feeds the system, removing a single point of failure and simplifying maintenance. The 1U form factor is designed for standard rack airflow, so the server operates within typical data-centre cooling envelopes without requiring extra fan trays or liquid loops. Power draw scales with the installed CPU and drive count, leaving headroom for a second processor or additional memory modules.
Two drive trays with mounting screws ship in the box, letting you populate the SFF bays immediately without sourcing caddies. An optional universal media bay or two extra SFF bays can be added later for expanded storage density. No operating system is included, so you can install the hypervisor or OS that matches your workload. The B140i SATA RAID and Matrox G200 graphics work out of the box with standard drivers.

Other versions of this model
Same family, different memory, cooler or clock — compare before you commit.
The server supports up to two Xeon processors; the second CPU installs in the socket on the riser board beside the first, and the matching eight DIMM slots must be populated at the same time.
The B140i handles SATA RAID 0, 1 and 5 in firmware; plan to monitor drive health through the OS and rebuild arrays after any disk failure, as there is no dedicated cache or battery-backed write cache to service.
The single 550 W hot-swap supply must feed both processors, up to 16 DDR4 DIMMs and eight 2.5-inch SATA drives, so sustained heavy compute plus disk I/O will hit the power budget before thermal limits.
