This HP ProLiant DL360 Gen9 fits a full dual-processor configuration into a single rack unit. Two eight-core Xeon E5-2640 v3 CPUs at 2.6 GHz deliver 16 physical cores and 32 threads. Sixteen gigabytes of DDR4 ECC registered memory occupy part of the 24 available DIMM slots. Two 1 TB 7.2K SAS drives connect through the Smart HBA H240ar controller, which supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60. Dual 500 W hot-swap power supplies provide redundancy.
The 1U chassis is built for racks where space is at a premium and workloads benefit from high core counts per unit. Virtualisation hosts, database nodes and HPC clusters can exploit the 32 threads and DDR4 bandwidth. Buyers who need more than four 3.5-inch drive bays or who require GPU acceleration beyond the integrated Matrox G200 should look at larger form-factor servers.
Only four large-form-factor bays are available, so the server tops out at four 3.5-inch SAS or SATA drives. The installed pair of 1 TB SAS disks leaves two bays free for expansion, but total raw capacity cannot exceed four drives. If the application demands eight or more spindles, a 2U or 4U platform with additional backplanes is required.

The server ships with dual Xeon E5-2640 v3 processors, 16GB DDR4 ECC memory, two 1TB 7.2K 3.5" SAS drives in trays, the H240ar RAID controller, and redundant 500W power supplies. No operating system, rail kit, or additional drives are included.
The board has 24 DDR4 slots supporting up to 3TB total. Installed memory is 16GB; you can populate remaining slots with 4GB, 8GB, 16GB, 32GB or 64GB ECC Registered DDR4 up to 2400MT/s, speed limited by the E5-2640 v3 processors.
The H240ar provides hardware RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 across 12Gb SAS and 6Gb SATA links, managing the two installed 1TB SAS drives and up to two more in the four LFF bays.
