The HP ProLiant DL360 Gen9 fits a dual-socket Intel Xeon E5-2670 v3 platform into a 1U rack chassis. A single twelve-core processor running at 2.3 GHz and 32 GB of DDR4 ECC memory are installed. Two 500 GB 7.2 K 2.5-inch SATA drives connect to the onboard B140i software RAID controller. Dual redundant 500 W power supplies complete the package.
This server suits environments that value front-access drive bays and redundant power in a single rack unit. The eight SFF bays allow storage expansion without shutting down. Buyers who need hardware RAID acceleration or SAS connectivity should look at configurations with a dedicated Smart Array controller. The installed B140i handles SATA RAID 0, 1, 5 and 10 only.
The embedded B140i manages the two installed drives and any additional SATA devices across the eight 2.5-inch bays. It does not support SAS or hardware RAID levels beyond 0, 1, 5 and 10. If the workload demands battery-backed write cache or SAS throughput, a separate controller card must be sourced.

The 1U chassis includes 8 small form factor bays for 2.5-inch SATA drives.
Fill the 12 slots on the installed processor first, starting with the farthest slot from the CPU and working inward.
Replace a drive immediately after the B140i controller reports a predictive failure or the array shows a degraded state.
