Blade server for virtualisation workloads

The HPE BL460c G10 blade fits into a c-Class enclosure and ships with two Xeon Silver 4116 processors running at 2.1 GHz, each offering 12 cores and 16.5 MB cache. Forty-eight gigabytes of DDR4 ECC registered memory are installed, expandable to 128 GB. Two 900 GB SAS 2.5-inch 10K drives connect through a Smart Array P204i-b SR Gen10 controller, and a FlexFabric 20 GB 2-port 650FLB adapter handles networking. Integrated iLO Advanced provides remote management.

SAS drive count and enclosure dependency

The blade supports up to two 2.5-inch drives, so internal storage is limited to the two 900 GB SAS disks supplied. Additional capacity requires shared storage presented over the 20 Gb FlexFabric links or an external array. The server cannot operate outside a compatible HPE c-Class enclosure, which supplies power, cooling, and the interconnect fabric for the FlexFabric adapter and iLO.

Check enclosure compatibility and memory layout

Verify that your c-Class enclosure has an available half-height bay and the required interconnect modules for 20 Gb FlexFabric and iLO. Confirm the DDR4 DIMM population rules for the 48 GB installed so future expansion to 128 GB follows the correct channel order. Ensure the Smart Array P204i-b SR controller firmware is current for the RAID level you plan to use.
