The HPE ProLiant DL380 Gen9 is a 2U rack server fitted with two Xeon E5-2687W v4 CPUs running at 3.0 GHz and 12 cores each, delivering 24 threads for virtualisation, database or compute workloads. It ships with 256 GB of DDR4 ECC registered memory and an HPE Smart Array P440 SAS controller in an 8SFF chassis that accepts up to eight 2.5-inch drives. Integrated graphics and HPE iLO Advanced remote management are included.

Confirm the facility can supply dual 500 W Flex Slot power inputs and that your network infrastructure supports the installed Intel I350/X540 card offering two 10 GbE and two 1 GbE ports. Ensure any drives you add use the SAS interface supported by the P440 controller and that the operating system you plan to run is certified for the Gen9 platform.

Thermals noise and power in normal use

Dual 500 W Flex Slot power supplies share the load, providing redundancy while drawing only what the configured components require. The Gen9 thermal design uses variable-speed fans that ramp up under heavy CPU or memory utilisation but run quieter at typical virtualisation loads. Acoustic output remains within data-centre norms for a 2U server, and the iLO interface allows real-time monitoring of temperature, fan speed and power consumption.
