A 5.25in bay drawer that hot-swaps a single 3.5in SATA drive with a key lock and built-in cooling fan
Model Rugged
This black aluminium drawer converts a single 3.5in SATA hard drive or SSD into a front-accessible hot-swap bay that fits a standard 5.25in drive slot. It is built for technicians and system builders who need to move drives between machines without opening the case. The key-lock mechanism prevents accidental ejection while the drive is powered.
The all-aluminium chassis acts as a heatsink and a ball-bearing fan draws air across the installed drive during continuous read or write sessions. This combination keeps operating temperatures stable over long backup, imaging or archival workloads instead of letting heat build up in a short burst.
The caddy supports SATA I and II signalling, so the drive will operate at up to 300 MB/s rather than the 6 Gbps ceiling of later revisions. Systems that only provide a 150 MB/s SATA I port will run the drive at that lower ceiling, and the tray cannot overcome the bandwidth limit of the host controller.

The aluminum drawer includes a ball-bearing cooling fan that moves air across the drive, while the all-metal body acts as a heatsink to dissipate heat during continuous use.
A desktop PC or Mac with a free 5.25in front drive bay, an internal SATA data cable, and a spare SATA power connector from the power supply.
The caddy accepts any 3.5in SATA drive and the SATA I/II interface handles legacy SATA 150 and SATA 300 drives without extra configuration.
