The Synology RS826+ is a 1U rackmount network-attached storage system built for edge locations, remote offices and growing business environments. It ships fully assembled and tested with 32 GB of DDR4 ECC memory, 3.2 TB of enterprise cache on two 1.6 TB modules and four 8 TB Synology Plus drives installed. A 2.2 GHz AMD Ryzen V1500B four-core, eight-thread processor handles file services and virtualization workloads.

Verify rack space, network ports

Confirm you have 1U of rack height available and that the 44 mm × 480 mm × 492.6 mm chassis fits your cabinet depth. The unit provides four 1 GbE RJ-45 ports for link aggregation and failover; ensure your switch supports the same speed. A single PCIe Gen3 slot accepts compatible 10 GbE or 25 GbE adapters if higher throughput is required later. The four bays accept 3.5-inch SATA hard drives or 2.5-inch SATA SSDs.

Replaces standalone file servers

This configuration replaces a basic file server or entry-level NAS when you need integrated ECC memory, dedicated cache and pre-populated high-capacity drives in a single 1U form factor. The jump is worth it when your workload demands sustained sequential read speeds above 2,000 MB/s and write speeds above 1,300 MB/s under test conditions, plus the ability to add faster networking through the PCIe slot.
