Compact 1U rackmount NAS for edge

The Synology RS826RP+ is a 1U rackmount network-attached storage system built for edge deployments, branch offices and remote business workloads. It uses a quad-core AMD Ryzen V1500B processor running at 2.2 GHz with eight threads. The unit ships with 8GB DDR4 RAM, 800GB of enterprise cache using two 400GB SSDs, and four 16TB Synology Plus drives for 64TB of raw capacity. Four 1GbE RJ-45 ports support Link Aggregation for bandwidth scaling and automatic failover.

Upgrade from single-drive or non-redundant storage

This system replaces standalone drives or basic NAS units that lack hot-swap bays, redundant power or expansion capability. The jump is worth it when uptime matters: four hot-swappable bays accept 3.5-inch SATA hard drives and 2.5-inch SATA SSDs, and a redundant power supply is integrated. Capacity can grow to eight bays and 192TB raw by adding one RX426 expansion unit. A PCIe Gen3 slot allows a 10GbE or 25GbE adapter, an M.2 SSD adapter, or a combined M.2 and 10GbE card for faster networking or caching.

Sustained throughput over 2,000 MB/s read

Under Synology's tested configuration the RS826RP+ delivers sequential read performance above 2,000 MB/s and write performance above 1,300 MB/s, maintaining those rates during extended transfers rather than only in short bursts. The AMD Ryzen V1500B and 8GB DDR4 handle concurrent file services, backup jobs and virtualization workloads without throttling. Four 1GbE ports with Link Aggregation keep network paths saturated. The chassis operates from 0°C to 35°C at 5 to 95 percent relative humidity, and the 100-240 VAC supply supports global deployment.
