TP-Link
A dual-band Wi-Fi 5 router delivering 1.9 Gbps combined speed with MU-MIMO and beamforming for reliable 4K streaming and gaming
Struck-through versions exist but are not stocked here.
The Archer A8 is a Wi-Fi 5 wireless router delivering up to 1.9 Gbps combined throughput across 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands. It targets households that stream 4K or HD video and play online games on multiple devices simultaneously. Three spatial streams and MU-MIMO let the router serve several clients at once instead of queuing them. Smart Connect steers each device to the clearer band automatically.
The unit provides one Gigabit WAN port and four Gigabit LAN ports for wired links to PCs, smart TVs or consoles; no USB port is present. It requires a cable or DSL modem and an active ISP subscription for internet access. Management is done through any modern JavaScript-enabled browser. Operation modes include wireless router and access point, so it can extend an existing network or serve as the primary gateway.
The router uses a 1.2 GHz single-core processor and three fixed high-performance antennas with beamforming to maintain range. Transmit power stays below 30 dBm on both bands per FCC limits. Receiver sensitivity figures show strong weak-signal performance across 20, 40 and 80 MHz channels. With no moving parts the device runs silently and draws modest power in normal operation.

Other versions of this model
Same family, different memory, cooler or clock — compare before you commit.
The 5 GHz radio is rated for 1300 Mbps under the 802.11ac standard; sustained heavy traffic will not exceed that link-rate ceiling.
The unit is powered by a 1.2 GHz single-core CPU and three fixed antennas with FCC transmit power below 30 dBm on both bands; no fan is fitted so heat is dissipated passively.
A cable or DSL modem and an active subscription with an internet service provider are required; the router then connects via its single Gigabit WAN port.
