The Thermal Grizzly PhaseSheet PTM is a 50x40mm thermal pad built on phase-change material. Optimum distribution of the liquid phase demands a contact pressure of around 300-400N. Without sufficient pressure the pad cannot achieve its lowest possible layer thickness, limiting heat transfer. The material also contracts on solidification to minimise the pump-out effect caused by differing thermal expansion between copper coolers and silicon dies.
