The BR1500MS2 is a 1500 VA tower battery backup that delivers 900 W of sine-wave output to desktop PCs, networking gear, external drives and game consoles. It supplies clean power during outages and shields connected equipment from voltage spikes and data-line surges. Deciding specification: 900 watt capacity

The single figure that determines fit is the 900 W rated output. Add the maximum power draw of every device you will plug into the six battery-backup outlets; if the total exceeds 900 W the unit will overload and shut down. Equipment needing more continuous power requires a higher-capacity UPS.

Behaviour under sustained load

At full 900 W load the battery provides 4.10 minutes of runtime, enough for an orderly shutdown but not for extended operation. At half load runtime extends to 14.50 minutes. After a discharge the sealed lead-acid battery needs 16 hours to reach full charge again, so repeated outages within a day will reduce available backup time.
