The ASUSTOR AS7110T is a 10-bay desktop NAS powered by an Intel Xeon E-2224 quad-core processor running at 3.4 GHz with a turbo frequency up to 4.6 GHz. It ships with 8 GB of DDR4-2666 ECC memory installed across two slots expandable to 64 GB. The diskless chassis accepts 3.5-inch and 2.5-inch SATA drives alongside M.2 2280, 2260 and 2242 modules in both NVMe and SATA flavours. Maximum raw capacity reaches 220 TB.

Dual M.2 slots enable SSD caching

Two M.2 2280 NVMe ports let administrators add flash storage for read-write caching without occupying front-accessible drive bays. This accelerates random I/O for virtual machines databases and Docker containers while keeping all ten SATA bays free for bulk capacity. The unit also provides triple 2.5-gigabit Ethernet ports a single 10-gigabit port and USB 3.2 Gen2 connections for external backup targets.

SATA interface limits sustained throughput

Every drive bay connects through SATA so sequential transfer rates cannot exceed the 6 Gbps link speed of the interface. Mechanical disks typically saturate well below that ceiling while SATA SSDs hit the bottleneck during large sequential workloads. NVMe modules in the M.2 slots bypass this constraint for cached data but bulk storage remains bound by the SATA bus.
