Chassis & Motherboard Support

The 4U rackmount enclosure accepts EATX, ATX, Micro-ATX and Mini-ITX motherboards, giving builders a wide choice of server or workstation platforms. Eight full-height expansion slots provide room for multiple add-in cards such as RAID controllers, network adapters or GPU accelerators. A standard ATX supply or a redundant CRPS unit can be fitted, so power architecture matches the deployment.

12 Gbps Backplane Limits

The SFF-8643 MiniSAS backplane delivers 12 Gbps bandwidth per lane to each hot-swap bay. That ceiling is set by the SAS-3 electrical specification, so drives faster than 12 Gbps will negotiate down to this speed. Cable routing uses the two included reversed SFF-8643 to 4×SATA cables, which carry the same 12 Gbps limit to SATA targets.

Drive Capacity & Headroom

Eight front-accessible 3.5-inch bays accept both 3.5 and 2.5-inch SATA or SAS drives, plus one fixed internal 3.5-inch position for a boot or parity device. The hot-swap design allows drive replacement without powering down, while three 12038 PWM fans and two optional 8 cm rear fans move air across dense drive stacks. Storage grows until the eight-bay backplane is full.
