The quad-core AL-524 processor and 2 GB DDR4 memory maintain steady throughput during prolonged RAID 5 or RAID 6 rebuilds and multi-user file transfers. Dual Ethernet ports (2.5 GbE and 1 GbE) prevent a single saturated link from choking long-running backup jobs. Power draw stays at 33.88 W under continuous operation.

Installation and common pitfalls

The unit fits a standard 1U rack space and includes a rail kit for quick mounting. Drives slide into hot-swap trays without tools. The 2 GB memory is not user-expandable, so memory-heavy applications such as large-scale deduplication will hit a hard ceiling. Only Buffalo OP-HD2.0N drives are officially validated; third-party disks may work but are unsupported.
