The Buffalo TeraStation 5420 delivers 16 terabytes of pre-configured storage across four drive bays. It ships with four 4TB NAS-grade hard drives already installed and RAID-ready for small-business file serving, backup targets or virtualization hosts.

Pre-tested drives and RAID presets

Drives arrive tested and the array is pre-configured, so the unit can join the network without a manual build step. Snapshot technology adds near-instant recovery points, while AES-256 encryption and two-factor authentication harden data at rest and in transit.

10GbE and 1GbE network limits

A single 10GbE RJ-45 port handles high-throughput transfers when the switch and cabling support it, while two 1GbE ports provide fallback connectivity. Transfer rates will drop to the slowest link in the path, so environments without 10GbE infrastructure will not reach the top speed.
