The Dell PowerEdge M640 half-height blade carries two Intel Xeon Gold 6150 processors, each with 18 cores running at 2.7 GHz and a 3.7 GHz turbo frequency. The node provides 512 GB of DDR4 2666 MHz registered ECC memory across 16 slots. Dual 960 GB SATA SSDs connect through a PERC H330 controller supporting RAID 0, 1, 5, 10 and 50. A Broadcom 57810S-K dual-port 10 Gb daughter card handles network traffic.

Sustained throughput with dual-socket scaling

Under continuous load the two 18-core CPUs share a 56-core ceiling across the chassis, allowing workloads to spread across both sockets without single-socket bottlenecks. The PERC H330 operates at 12 Gb/s SAS/SATA, keeping storage latency predictable during extended write sequences. iDRAC9 Enterprise provides out-of-band monitoring so administrators can track thermal and power trends without interrupting the host operating system.

Chassis-dependent expansion limits

The blade fits PowerEdge MX and M1000e enclosures, so maximum memory of 1.5 TB and any additional NVMe drives require available chassis slots and backplane support. Network bandwidth is capped by the installed 10 Gb daughter card and the chassis switch modules. Storage growth beyond the two 2.5-inch bays depends on shared chassis storage or external arrays rather than internal expansion.
