The Dell PowerEdge R430 fits a single Intel Xeon E5-2650 v3 with ten cores at 2.3 GHz and 48 GB of DDR4 memory into a 1U chassis. It ships with three 300 GB 15 K SAS drives on a PERC H730 controller supporting RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60. The platform targets workloads that need fast local storage and redundant power in a single rack unit.

Thermals, noise and power draw

A single 550 W hot-swap power supply provides redundancy while the system runs typical enterprise workloads. The 1U form factor uses high-speed internal fans to move air across the CPU, memory and drive bays; acoustic output rises with load but remains within data-centre norms. Power consumption scales with processor utilisation and the number of installed drives.

Build integration

The server offers eight 2.5-inch hot-plug bays for SAS or SATA drives, leaving five bays free for expansion. Two PCIe 3.0 slots accept low-profile add-in cards such as additional NICs or HBAs. Four onboard 1 GbE ports and iDRAC8 with Lifecycle Controller handle network and remote management without extra hardware. A DVD-ROM drive and included rails complete the rack-ready package.
