The Dell PowerEdge R530 is a 2U rack server built around two Intel Xeon E5-2650 v3 processors, each with 10 cores at 2.3 GHz. It ships with 16 GB of DDR4 memory across 12 DIMM slots and a PERC H330 RAID controller supporting RAID 0, 1, 5, 10, 50 and 60. Eight hot-plug 3.5-inch drive bays accept SAS or SATA drives up to 80 TB total capacity. The system includes dual redundant 750 W power supplies and a DVD-ROM drive.

Dual 750 W hot-swap power supplies keep the server running if one unit fails, which is critical during continuous multi-threaded workloads across 40 virtual cores. The Intel C610 chipset and DDR4 memory running up to 2400 MT/s deliver steady throughput for virtualisation or database tasks. The Matrox G200 graphics controller with 8 MB cache handles basic console output without adding thermal load. Four onboard 1 GbE ports provide stable network connectivity for long-running services.

Straightforward rack install with cabling care

The 2U chassis fits standard racks and includes a rail kit for mounting. Twelve DIMM slots are grouped six per processor, so memory must be balanced across both CPUs for full performance. Drive bays are front-accessible for hot-swap replacement, but the eight 3.5-inch slots limit density compared to 2.5-inch configurations. PCIe expansion offers three 3.0 slots and two 2.0 slots; full-length cards need clearance verification. iDRAC8 Express provides remote management out of the box, with Enterprise features available as an upgrade.
