The Dell PowerEdge R530 fits in 2U of rack space and ships with a single ten-core Xeon E5-2650 V3 at 2.3 GHz and 24 GB of DDR4. Two 300 GB 15K SAS drives and a Perc H730 RAID controller provide fast local storage. Dual 750 W redundant power supplies keep the system running if one unit fails.

Storage ceiling and PCIe limits

Eight 3.5-inch hot-plug bays accept SAS or SATA drives up to a combined 80 TB. The H730 controller supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60. Five PCIe slots are available: three at 3.0 and two at 2.0, so newer add-in cards may run at reduced bandwidth on the older lanes.

Built for continuous operation

Hot-swap power supplies and drive bays let technicians replace components without shutting down. Four 1 GbE ports on a daughter card handle baseline networking. iDRAC8 with Lifecycle Controller gives remote console, power control and firmware updates over a dedicated management port. A DVD-ROM and rails are included.
