The Dell PowerEdge R630 fits a single Intel Xeon E5-2637 V3 quad-core processor running at 3.5GHz with 16GB of DDR4 memory in a 1U chassis. It ships with two 600GB 15K SAS drives on a PERC H330 RAID controller supporting RAID 0, 1, 5, 10, 50 and 60. Dual 750W redundant power supplies and iDRAC8 remote management come standard.

SAS drive bays limit expansion to eight 2.5-inch

The chassis accepts up to eight hot-plug SAS or SATA drives, so total raw capacity is bounded by the 14TB maximum per drive and the eight-bay count. The H330 controller operates at 12Gbps SAS speed, and the board provides up to three PCIe 3.0 slots plus a dedicated PERC slot for additional I/O. Network connectivity defaults to four 1GbE ports with optional 10GbE daughter cards.

Single CPU caps memory at 1536GB across 24 DIMM

With one processor installed, the system can address up to 1536GB using 24 DDR4 slots running up to 2400MT/s. Buyers who need more than 16GB today must add a second Xeon to unlock the remaining twelve slots and the full memory ceiling.
