The Dell PowerEdge R730 is a 2U rack server built for midsize and large enterprises running data warehouses, e-commerce platforms, virtual desktop infrastructure, databases or high-performance computing nodes. Two installed Xeon E5-2620 v3 processors provide twelve cores at 2.4 GHz with 3.2 GHz turbo for multi-threaded throughput. Redundant hot-swap 750 W platinum power supplies and iDRAC8 Enterprise remote management support continuous operation in dense racks.

768 GB DDR4 registered ECC across twenty-four slots

The system ships with 768 GB of DDR4 2133 MHz registered ECC memory populated in all twenty-four DIMM slots, leaving no empty sockets for further expansion without removing modules. Maximum supported capacity is 1.5 TB, so any growth beyond the current configuration requires replacing existing 32 GB modules with higher-density parts. The Intel C610 chipset and LGA 2011-3 sockets define the memory ceiling.

Eight 300 GB 10 K SAS drives behind PERC H730

Storage is handled by a PERC H730 1 GB controller with battery-backed cache driving eight 300 GB 10 K SAS drives in 2.5 inch bays, supporting RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60. Network connectivity uses a quad-port daughter card with two 1 GbE and two 10 Gb SFP+ links. Dual 750 W platinum supplies share load efficiently, while the 2U chassis and included ready rails fit standard rack cabinets without special clearance requirements.
