The PowerEdge R730 is a 2U rack system built around two Intel Xeon E5-2660 v4 processors running at 2.0 GHz with a 3.2 GHz turbo. Fourteen cores per CPU deliver 28 threads for heavy multi-threaded workloads such as virtual desktop infrastructure, databases and high-performance computing nodes. One hundred and twenty-eight gigabytes of DDR4 registered ECC memory populate eight of the 24 available slots.

Verify Rack Space and Network Cabling

Confirm the cabinet can accept a 2U chassis and that rails are compatible with your rack depth. The PERC H730 controller manages the eight installed 300 GB 10K SAS drives through a 12 Gb/s backplane supporting RAID levels 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60. Network connectivity uses a quad-port daughter card providing two 1 GbE and two 10 Gb SFP+ links, so ensure matching switch ports and transceivers are available.

Dual 750 W PSUs and iDRAC Enterprise Included

Two hot-swap 750 watt platinum power supplies provide redundancy without extra purchase. The iDRAC 8 Enterprise licence enables full remote management including virtual console and power control from any browser. ReadyRails and the front bezel ship in the box, so the server can be racked immediately. No operating system or hypervisor is pre-installed.
