Dual-socket Xeon server for virtualisation

The PowerEdge R730 fits two Intel Xeon E5-2680 v3 processors, each with 12 cores at 2.5 GHz and a 3.3 GHz turbo frequency. With 512 GB of DDR4 2133 MHz registered ECC memory across 16 modules, it targets midsize and large enterprises running virtual desktop infrastructure, data warehouses or high-performance computing workloads. The Intel C610 chipset supports up to 1.5 TB of memory across 24 slots, leaving headroom for future expansion.

SAS controller and network daughter card set I/O

The PERC H730 1 GB controller provides 12 Gb/s SAS and SATA connectivity with RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 plus pass-through modes. Eight 2.4 TB 10 K SAS drives occupy the 2.5-inch bays, delivering sequential throughput within the controller’s 12 Gb/s lane limit. The Intel X520/I350 daughter card adds two 1 GbE and two 10 Gb SFP+ ports, so network bandwidth tops out at the card’s dual 10 Gb ceiling rather than the system bus.

Redundant power and rails simplify rack deployment

Two 750 W platinum-efficiency hot-swap power supplies share the load and allow one unit to fail without downtime. The 2U chassis includes ready rails and a front bezel, so the server slides into a standard rack and locks in place without extra brackets. iDRAC 8 Enterprise gives remote console, power control and hardware monitoring over a dedicated management port, letting administrators handle firmware updates or recovery from outside the data centre.
